Hey guys, I’m sure that you’ve heard of No Shave November at some point in your life. There are plenty of memes online, and I’m sure your friends and family talk about it. November’s about to get a little hairy for all you dudes out there! From the time you’ve grown the first facial hair on your chin or upper lip, you’ve been deemed a “man” that can participate in the cause. What many people don’t know, however, is that no shave November was actually started to raise awareness for men’s health.
With this campaign, men don’t shave because they’re embracing their hair, something that cancer patients tend to lose. The goal is to accept natural hair, letting it grow wild – and whatever money that would typically go towards shaving products would be donated to cancer research, prevention, and aid. Men face their fair share of health scares – the risk of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and also a variance of mental health diseases found more predominantly in men. Last month, we covered breast cancer awareness for the ladies, now it’s time for the guys!
Remember, you have to put your razor down for the WHOLE month! No products, no trimming, nothing! The purpose of No Shave November is to remain natural.
Now, if you don’t feel like going au naturale with your facial hair, Movember is also a thing, men! You can definitely still participate in the campaign without having to go full on no ‘stache. Movember’s purpose is similar to that of No Shave November, where instead of shaving completely, men only grow out their mustaches for awareness. You can let your mustache grow free, or you can follow the guide below to find a new ‘stache style! Whether you choose the chevron, lampshade, or walrus, remember that you’re supporting your friends, brothers, and fathers. These campaigns create conversation and are unique starting points for awareness. Plenty of men get competitive and creative with the campaign.
Guys, It’s also important to note that it’s crucial to get yourselves screened as well! You want to make sure you check yourself before it’s too late. Most cancer screenings are covered by your insurance, and of course, the EVVEMI team wants to make sure all you gentlemen out there are healthy!
